This week, we talk about Graphic in class. We discuss about many things about graphic such as the benefit, functions and how to create it. It amazed me upon knowing when, where and who actually started this graphic media learning. In education, we use graphic to attract our students attentions of course other than making an active learning environment in the classroom.
I am not a fan of graphic but i do appreciate the work of others especially for creativity. I could say i love Googling for art but not talented in one. But as for graphic, there are plenty of apps and website which now serve users free frames and designs. All of those are interesting and beautiful. I would make sure to use some of these apps in my future T&L session.
This week we were presenting our AR's project plan. This is the significant of last tutor of which we were creating our AR plan using Coggle. Before the presentation begin, Dr. Fariza explain to us the importants of this project as of the objectives. She told us that we have to make sure that our project must be beneficial and educational for our target audiences. What she meant was that our project have to be better or improving general knowledge of our audiences. And of course their is a spot of improvement could be filled in as Dr Fariza observing our group's AR plan.
On Thursday, we went to a seminar about " Securing Our Cyberspace" that was held in Faculty of Technology and Science Media(FTSM). The talk was really interesting and informative. i have learn so much from the talk about cybercrime. It actually really frightening when i got to know that the risk of us becoming the victim of cybercrime from the moment we started online. There were also some tips on how to reduce the risk of becoming the target of cybercrime. I will make sure to share this knowledge to my friends and beloved family members as precaution.
For this week, we are to show our group's plan on creating Arasma project using Coggle. Coggle is an application or a website that allows user to easily create and establish mind map, a digital mind map. It was my first time using this app and i actually confuse the name with Google. There a lots of mind map apps and this is by far the easiest application i encounter in creating mind map. This free app are very user-friendly as it can be learn in minutes and actually all of our teams are able to submit our Coggle mind map plans to Dr. Fariza by the end of that class. That was truly amazing for me as a learner because i can the potential in such an app in teaching students in an interesting way.
This week we have tutorial class. We were introduced to the Aurasma, an applications or websites which allows users to implements their augmented reality media. Actually I already experience augmented reality media last year. That was when my little brother play his playing card game and at the same time use his gadget to make the images in that card looks alive in his gadget. It was cool. Now here i am so excited to learn how actually an augmented reality media was created. i am really amazed on how creativity can change the way people learn these days. As a future educator, i am going to make these as one of my teaching material for sure.
This week, we have lecture class. During the lecture class, we learned about the process of media appraisal. We started by some lecture from our lecturer and watched some videos which was made by our seniors. We were asked to discuss about those videos, the significant and what might or might not came after. Also, I learned that there are step require, i might call it procedures on how we, as the future educators going to check and mark the media created by our students.
For this week, there were no tutor nor lecture class due to some circumstances. So with the spare time, i spent them on the openlearning module. Watching the tutorial videos and some other task.
This week we did not have tutor class. Instead, we do have public lecture of all second year students for this course at Dewan Budiman. Dr Fariza also instruct us to do some Module in the MOOC Openlearning which are Module 2, 3 and 4. What I learned from doing these Modules are there are so many types of media and technology all together. So many elements of teaching using media and technology. This was in Module 2, and i though, as an educator one day, i should really look into these media and my students ability to handle the T&L as wise as possible. I also learn about many theories. For instant, i learned about disruptive technology. At first, i though this theory was about some negative stuff or anything similar. But i am wrong. It was not completely negative affect of technology. Disruptive technology was the reason behind all the innovations coming from across nations. It make all the technology evolve into something new, and better from the previous one or better than the other technologies.
This week was just the follow up lecture of the previous week's lecture. We learn more about the important elements that should be put in our e-portfolio. Basically, we were taught on how to make our e-portfolio look really good and attractive(as it is to attract our future employer) which then come to the session where we also eventually learn a few more tricks to make more interesting e-portfolio. For instant, we learned how to create Padlet, a free application from a numerous of applications we can use to make our e-portfolio more interesting. This application allow the user to add images, videos links and much more to on our e-portfolio. This element is not that hard to create, only some creativity of course. Well, for me this is a good idea to enhance the e-learning method as we know the future will have our students learning with gadget here and there and here we are, learning at firsthand before we taught our future students.
As part of our task, we were assign to create a website using Weebly. The objective of the task is to encourage students in the near future whereas the challenges would be on the digital world. We were taught on how to create a Weebly website account and how to build the feature in the website.
For instance, a must-have feature of a website is the Home pages, Contact page and the Content. As for the content, we were needed to create a blog page for the reflection segment and standard pages for the Assignment pages. Eventually we learned the details mechanic of creating the website which is a good things to know for our future commitment on the digital world.
I really think that the Piktochart event is so great. The Piktochart Day is basically about teaching and tutoring students on how to use the tools and features in the website(Piktochart) more efficiently. Infographic is for me, a really interesting medium of delivering messages and info in animated and stylish way possible, so no would feel bored reading them. And I also thought that infographic is best created for posters, only.
This event is about encouraging students in this university to use infographic more often in their daily life. What is meant by everyday life as students is that students can acquire the skills of using infographic and apply it in doing their assignment or task. What is more fun is that during that PiktoTour Day, students were given the Pro Plan of Piktochart features for 1 month free so that they can try out the best features before they either wanted to continue the plan for valuable price.
